Zebulon, NC--Russell Colen Briggs, 77, of Zebulon, died early Saturday morning, August 10, 2024 at Rex Hospital.

Born January 16, 1947, Russell was the son of the late Hoye Colen Briggs and Ruth Burkhart Briggs. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Briggs Tussey.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Fuller Briggs, of Zebulon; daughter Dawn Briggs Murray and husband Anthony of Raleigh; one grandson; step-daughter Deanna Oldham and husband AJ of Cedar Point; brothers Hildred Briggs and wife Phyllis of Louisburg, and Chris Briggs of Bunn; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Rock Spring Baptist Church 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 13. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. A private burial will take place at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rock Spring Baptist Church General Fund, 34 Rock Springs Church Rd. Louisburg, NC 27549.
