Donald Earl Harris

Youngsville, NC--Donald Earl Harris, age 79, of Youngsville, passed away Thursday night, September 19, 2024, at Duke Raleigh Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born in Franklin County, on May 11, 1945, a son of the late Royster T. Harris, Sr. and Alice Hunt Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Earl Harris; sister Patsy Ayscue and brothers, Royster Harris, Jr. and Jimmy C. Harris.

Duck was a veteran of the United States Army, a farmer and retired from Winston's Feed in Youngsville after 25 years or more. He had a kind heart that loved all animals, which is evident looking across the green pastures and beautiful landscape of his farm.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Duck is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Glenda C. Harris; stepdaughter, Kimberly Ragin of Washington, DC; sister, Betty Sue Rice and husband John of Henderson; brother, Ricky Harris and wife, Swannie of Louisburg; sisters-in-law, Rochelle Harris of Louisburg and Helen Hurst and husband, Ron of Youngsville; Belith Ward and husband, Jim of Oklahoma; Floritha Lawson and husband, Kenny of Washington; several special nieces and nephews; special friends, Edward, Leo and Max Ordonez of Youngsville.
