Shirley G. Marshall
September 6, 1935 - September 20, 2024

LOUISBURG, NC--Mrs. Shirley G. Marshall, 89 of Louisburg, passed away peacefully shortly after midnight on Friday, September 20, 2024. She was born on September 6, 1935 in Granville County, N.C. to the late Mortiamon Robert and Nora Turner Garner.

Shirley graduated from Duke University. She worked for the North Carolina Department of Public Health in the state lab for over 30 years. Shirley adored her family. Throughout Shirley's life, she faced many heartbreaking events. She lost her brothers at a very early age, as well as her two sons and her husband. Despite all that she had endured during these personal losses, she never let that stop her. She always persevered and kept going. She loved to cook and raise vegetables in her garden. Shirley always had canned veggies, her homemade tomato juice and her famous homemade pickles. She was known as a rule follower, and was always by the book. She enjoyed shopping and finding great deals, especially clothing. She was a tremendous woman and will be missed by all of her friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Marshall; her two sons, Rodney and Dexter Marshall; and her siblings, John, William, Roger, Robert and Nora Garner.

Left to cherish her memory are her two grandchildren, Thomas Marshall and Taylor Marshall; and her great granddaughter Veda Jane Marshall.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Lancaster Memorial Park in Louisburg. Family will receive friends and visitors immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Funeral Services have been entrusted to Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services in Louisburg.
