REV. LUTHER COPPEDGE
April 25, 1928 - November 30, 2024

RALEIGH, NC--Rev. Luther Coppedge, longtime pastor and Chaplin, departed this life on November 30, 2024.

He was the son of the late Rev. Willie M. and Ida Coppedge. He attended Lettuce Hall and Franklin County Training School. He furthered his education at Goldsboro Christian Institute and Shaw University earning a BA and Master's Degree. An Honorary Doctorate Degree was conferred upon him by the Western Assembly Bible Institute in 2004.

Rev. Coppedge, along with his wife Christine and their son, Harold, moved to Raleigh in 1968, where he served as Clinical I Chaplin at Triangle Correctional Center for twenty four years.

He pastored the following churches through the years: Lee's Chapel, Odell Baptist, White Oak, St. Stephen, Dan River, Bethel Baptist, Bunn Chapel, Johnston Piney Grove, New Trinity and Haywood Baptist of Louisburg, where he retired.

He was predeceased by his late wife, Mrs. Christine Coppedge and his son, Harold Douglas Coppedge. Survivors are sister-in-law, Shirley Alston; special nieces as caregivers, Mozell Clifton, Kecia Massenburg and Lenora Montgomery.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Haywood Baptist Church, Louisburg. Entombment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Raleigh.
