Billie Parrish Landen
August 23, 1943 - December 7, 2024

NEW BERN, NC-- Billie Parrish Landen, a generous soul and spirited beacon of love and thoughtfulness, was born on the 23rd of August, 1943 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She resided in Trent Woods and led a life that was a testament to her unwavering love for family, education, and service to her community. Billie, a woman of great determination, believed in the power of knowledge.

Billie's career spanned the full spectrum of education. After receiving both her undergraduate and master's degrees from East Carolina University, she poured her heart into teaching young students home economics at J.T. Barber and New Bern High Schools. As an accomplished educator, she later transitioned into school administration, retiring from the Craven County School System. Beyond her professional commitments, she was a lover of literature, Bridge, and Mahjong, and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority. Despite her busy schedule, she found time to lead the prayer shawl ministry at Garber Methodist Church, a reflection of her deep faith and commitment to service.

Billie's legacy lies not only in the difference she made professionally but also in the loving relationships she fostered. She is survived by her daughter Beth Landen, son Chip Landen, Jr. (Donna), and brother Ben Parrish (Mary). Her spirit will continue to live on in her grandchildren, Sydney Landen, Nicholson Landen, and Jackson Landen. She also leaves behind her niece Emily Smith. Preceded in death by her parents, Kirby and Myrtle Parrish, Billie will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate Billie's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Garber Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Garber Methodist Church.

We encourage everyone who knew Billie to contribute to her memorial page by sharing memories and uploading photos. Let's celebrate the life of this remarkable woman, honor her legacy, and remember her as the loving, thoughtful, and generous person she was.

Bennett Funeral & Cremation Care is honored to serve the family and friends of Billie Landen.
