Lucretia Pearce Buttram

Lucretia Pearce Buttram, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025. She was the only child of Bertis C. and Myrtie P. Pearce. Lucretia was the granddaughter of the late Omri and Florence P. Pearce, as well as the late Wiley R. and Effie May Pearce.

She graduated from Bunn High School in 1958 and worked with United Insurance Company of America and State Capital Insurance Company. Lucretia was a lifetime resident of Franklin County, formerly of the Pearce Community in Zebulon. She was a member of Pearce Baptist Church for over 43 years where she served in numerous capacities. In 1992, she joined Hickory Rock Baptist Church serving on numerous committees. Lucretia served as a deacon, mission coordinator, WMU president, and choir member, as well as volunteering on the tape and nursing home ministries.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Maston "Matt" White Buttram.

She is survived by her stepson, Edmund David Buttram, of Conover, NC; grandchildren: Brooke Buttram Riske (husband Jake) of Bent Mountain, VA, and Ross David Buttram of Conover, NC; great-grandchildren: Colton James Riske and Collins Ross Riske of Bent Mountain, VA; and numerous extended family members from her beloved Pearce lineage.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Hickory Rock Baptist Church, 1580 Firetower Road, Louisburg, NC 27549. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park, 2210 NC-561, Louisburg.
