CASTALIA, NC -- Funeral services for Vernell Perry Alston, age 71, who died on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, will be held on Tuesday, January 14, at 11 a.m. from the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Castalia with Pastor Bobby Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Church Cemetery.

Born April 19, 1953, she is survived by her husband, Grover "Clee" Alston of the home; two daughters, Sonya Scott (Dwayne) of Greenville, NC, Cartina Wright (Terrance) of Browns Summitt, NC; three sisters, Rev. Patricia Chavis, Barbara Jean Ragland (Charles), Dorothy Deloris Gupton (Douglas); and one brother, James Edward Perry (Darlene), all of Louisburg, NC; three step-daughters, Courtney Alston of Louisburg, NC, Nakia and Kim Montague, both of Franklinton, NC; two step-sons, Fredrick Alston of Louisburg, NC, Scottie Alston of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5 until 6 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home.
