WARRENTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Richardson, 80, who died Friday, May 12, 2006, were conducted Tuesday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at the Pine Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Hedgepeth officiating. Burial followed in the St. James Richardson family cemetery.
MIDDLESEX - Rachel Inez Jeffreys Crater, 67, of 13543 Burgess Rd., Middlesex, a resident of the Rocky Cross Community, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, Mother’s Day at 7:30 pm, after spending a wonderful weekend with her cherished family. Inez had fought a courageous battle with Lung Cancer since November 2003.

During her storied career at Bunn High School, senior distance runner Tria Metzler has developed a well-earned reputation as a clutch performer who excels during the highest-level meets.
FRANKLIN COUNTY -- The high school baseball teams in Franklin County certainly have saved their best for last during the 2006 campaign.
FRANKLINTON -- Maybe it was a rebuilding year for the Franklinton Red Rams, but they certainly provided a happy ending to the campaign last Friday.
Taking on Southern Vance, which had yet to lose in Northern Carolina Conference action, the visiting Red Rams defeated the Raiders 7-5 to close out their NCC (and regular season) schedule.

BUNN -- Despite fielding an always-competitive team since the inception of fast-pitch softball in 1995, one prize has eluded the Bunn Ladycats -- an undefeated, regular season league record.
My first request today is for thoughts and prayers for former Bunn High School student-athlete Bryant Anderson.
Bryant, who is ‘Mr. Bunn’ personified, is currently battling a serious illness, and he needs the support of everyone, whether they prefer the colors of green and gold, orange and blue or red and black.

LOUISBURG -- Pardon Lauren Stewart for hogging the spotlight Monday at the Louisburg High School Softball Senior Night.
As LHS’ lone upperclassman in 2006, Stewart was the center of attention as she accepted gifts, flowers and balloons from her appreciative teammates.
INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has announced the teams that will compete in the 2006 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship and two-time national champion North Carolina Wesleyan will host one the regionals -- starting today in Rocky Mount.
RICHMOND, VA - Emmett Milton Chesson, Jr. passed away Thursday, May 4, 2006 in Henrico Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

BUNN -- Tuesday’s postseason matchup between Bunn and North Johnston boasted a little bit of everything that makes soccer a pleasurable spectator sport.
The game, which was tight the entire way, featured plenty of scoring chances on both sides from two evenly matched clubs.
There were penalty kicks, acrobatic saves, clutch plays, momentum swings and a wealth of talented offensive performers.
