Five days before a vote on a $45-million school bond, county leaders were optimistic that the needs are clear and that the financial aspects of the debt are understood.
Schools Superintendent Dr. Bert L’Homme, Assistant Superintendent of Business and Finance Doug Moore, County Manager Chris Coudriet and lead bond project architect from MBAJ Jon Long discussed on Thursday the upcoming bond vote in a roundtable interview with The Franklin Times, all saying that the passing of the referendum is in the best interest of the future for Franklin County and the education system.

Woman charged in shooting death
Franklin County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Henderson woman on Friday night, alleging that she shot and killed her boyfriend. Authorities responded to 158 Louisburg Farms Road just before 10:30 a.m. to find Frederick Lee Crudup, 33, of Henderson, suffering from a gunshot wound.

A Superior Court judge gave a former tax collector three more years to pay his debt and a stern warning — pay up or risk getting jammed up. Probation officers alleged in court on Monday that Donnie Rudd willfully violated his probation by failing to pay the $60,000 he owes the county after he illegally pocketed a $50 fee from more than 5,000 delinquent taxpayers in the 1990s.

BUNN — Despite the threat of rain on Friday night and a promised downpour on Saturday, the spirit of Relay For Life shown through in its return trip to Bunn. “We had to cut it short on Saturday, but we had raised a good amount by then,” said co-organizer Timothy Bryant. “We still have money coming in, but as of Saturday, we were a little shy of $200,000.
