Shaw students give new meaning to “Gentlemen of Distinction”
Good role models are important, but especially so in single parent homes. A group of male students at Shaw University in Raleigh are giving new meaning to the term gentlemen while reinforcing that importance.
Each Wednesday about 20 Shaw University “Gentlemen of Distinction” show up at Raleigh’s Ligon Middle School, dressed in coats and ties to mentor a group of specially selected young boys, many of whom come from single parent, economically depressed homes.

Hurricanes pick up sweep on diamond
LOUISBURG -- The Louisburg College Hurricanes were hoping to get a full weekend of action in last Saturday and Sunday, but Mother Nature had other ideas.
Louisburg was able to stage its home doubleheader last Saturday against Patrick Henry, and the Hurricanes were able to earn a sweep courtesy of 2-1 and 6-5 victories.
