After reading Asher Johnson’s column regarding the (UGH) vinyl fence surrounding the parking lot at the Louisburg Baptist Church, I decided to ride by and take a peek. I immediately liked the fence and could see no difference in a regular white wood fence. Whoever made the decision to install this type fence knew what they were doing.

FRANKLINTON -- With Northern Carolina Conference action looming, the Franklinton Red Rams had two final doses of prep time this week in non-league, boys basketball action.
Tuesday at home, the Red Rams couldn’t hold on to an early lead, and they were eventually defeated by Northern Vance by a 52-48 margin at the historic FHS Gymnasium.

BUNN -- Bunn began its Northern Carolina Conference basketball schedule in sharp fashion on Tuesday by recording a sweep against North Johnston at the Bunn Dome.
BHS’ girls, who are the defending NCC champions, rolled to a 61-36 decision behind 16 points from Whitney Bunn, including a trio of 3-pointers.

HENDERSON -- A new 14-Under Travel Softball Team is being formed and will be based out of Vance County.
However, players from all neighboring counties, including Franklin, are welcome to try out for the squad.
Players who were born in 1997 or 1998 are being sought. Tryouts will be announced at a later date.

BUNN -- For the second time in a one-week span, the Bunn Wildcats used a Comeback Special to defeat Wilson Fike in non-conference boys basketball action.
And this one was indeed special for the Wildcats as they closed out a season sweep of the Class 3-A Golden Demons with a 47-36 decision on Wednesday night at the Bunn Dome.

LOUISBURG -- Rocky Mount Prep is regarded as one of the top small-school teams in the area -- a fact the Louisburg Warriors discovered during a four-day span.
Last Friday, Louisburg, seeking its first victory of the season, dropped a 62-54 showdown on the RMP campus, which is located adjacent to North Carolina Wesleyan College.

Man arrested for baby daughter’s murder
Charges against a Franklin County man continue to  mount.
Franklinton police arrested Johnathan Blake Perry on Dec. 10 on Wake Forest Police warrants alleging that he killed his 14-month-old daughter inside a Wake Forest home four days earlier.
Perry was being held in the Wake County Jail without bond and had a first appearance in court on Monday.

Franklin County sheriff’s deputies arrested two Bunn-area men on charges of trafficking drugs after seizing nearly 200 grams of cocaine.
Rodriquez Davis, 34, and Jerome Usher Jr., 25, were placed in the Franklin County Jail where they were being held in lieu of a $1 million bond, each.

Impact fee refund checks to be mailed Friday
Franklin County staff will provide an early Christmas present to homebuilders this week.
They will mail out 228 checks, totalling $816,346 in refunds for those who paid the county’s Adequate Public School Ordinance (APSO) fee.

Franklin County received another Franklinton bill on Monday for water it didn’t use.
Staff put it with the other $60,000-plus bill that it doesn’t intend to pay.
After Franklinton cut off its water supply to the county during drought conditions in September, county officials and staff considered their 40-year contract with Franklinton null and void.
