Dying gunshot victim robbed; suspect sought
FRANKLINTON — Police are looking for a man they allege robbed a dying man.
Those same investigators arrested a man this week accused of helping the killer elude police.
On Wednesday, officers arrested Jason Ruffin, 25, charging him with accessory after the fact.

Youngsville adopts nepotism policy
From taking the first steps toward condemnation of a mobile home to fielding a resident’s questions about the rising costs of services, the Youngsville town board worked through a rather routine agenda Thursday night.
The board agreed to start condemnation proceedings against property at 411 SW Railroad Street after nearly three months of effort have failed to convince the owner to properly install a sewage line.

Organizers of the county airport’s biggest community event said they will need all hands on deck next year.
High Flight organizer Michael Colclough told Triangle North Executive Airport board members on Tuesday that the two-day event drew 4,200 visitors.

Hundreds of students at Bunn Middle School traced the outline of their hands onto a sheet that will be on display at Safe Space’s 12th annual Candlelight Vigil at Louisburg College on Oct. 19. The traced hands were part of the pledge that students at Bunn Middle, Bunn High, Franklinton High and Louisburg College have made not to use their hands for violence.

First of all, this is Oct. 13, and I am so sleepy from trying to watch the rescue operation of the 33 miners last night, as well as this morning. This is an incredible, emotional rescue, one to be remembered through history, forever.
I could not begin this article without mentioning the Chilean miners and their rescue to safety. What a blessing from above for everyone involved in this successful operation.

The Franklin County sheriff’s office held an open house for their new satellite office in Bunn on Oct. 7. The new office is at 382 N.C. 98 West. It’s the second satellite office, as there is one in operation in Youngsville at 888 Park Avenue. Pictured, from left to right, Sgt. Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger has a comfortable 27-23 working margin of Republicans to Democrats that will help his party pass legislation, but House Speaker Thom Tillis faces a tougher challenge with only a 62-58 Republican plurality.
