Change, like it or not, is something we have to deal with

This December, more than most, is seeing a lot of changes at the local level -- and more are on the near horizon.
But perhaps none has been more shattering to me -- and to this newspaper and, by extension, to you -- than the loss of longtime Louisburg town clerk Carolyn Patterson.
It was December a year ago when Carolyn had a "spell" at the tail end of a town council meeting -- a medical event that launched a difficult, year-long medical odyssey that ended last Friday with her death.
